Lisa M. Owens

Lisa M. Owens moved to Montana in 2011 so she could finally, justifiably wear cowboy hats and boots. Her first Dreamspinner novel followed a year later. Like her dreams, her work is set in the West. She lives near Yellowstone National Park, between the Absaroka and Gallatin mountains, with her husband, a loveable accident-prone Belgian shepherd named Maizy and the One and Only Cat. Raised in Wisconsin, Lisa won her first writing contest, in poetry, in the second grade and finished her first novel in the eighth. A crazy reader since grade school, she found romance novels in her teens and fell in love with the genre and the guys. After college, she moved to Columbus, Ohio, and worked as a newspaper writer and editor. In 2009, when she and too many journalists to count were laid off, she began to pursue a fiction career in earnest, joining the Romance Writers of America for instruction and inspiration. About that same time, thanks to great books by Joey W. Hill, Lorelei James and Suzanne Brockmann, she discovered m/m romance. Then she found fav authors Heidi Cullinan, Z.A. Maxfield, Josh Lanyon, Amy Lane, Andrew Grey, K.A. Mitchell, Rick R. Reed, Chris Owen, Sloan Parker, T.J. Klune, T.A. Chase, Harper Fox and L.A. Witt, and Dreamspinner Press. She loves working with the Dreamspinner team. Now she spends happy days staring at her mountains, imagining new cowboy love stories, writing, and talking about writing and reading with readers and friends. She's toying with writing a mystery, because she falls in love with every sleuth Josh Lanyon creates, not to mention those tortured het policemen Jesse Stone and Harry Bosch. She just wishes she was a planner, not a pantser, so she could write faster.
