EXAMPLES

• Jason is determined to make his mother the perfect scarf for Christmas, and he knows just the place to get the softest yarn—and if there happens to be a hottie behind the counter, well… happy holidays to him?

• Christopher has been nominated to bring a Yule log for his work celebration. The thing is, he has no idea what a Yule log is, let alone knows how to bake one. Luckily, his coworker points him to the local bakery, where he meets Zack. Suddenly, all the heat in the kitchen isn’t just from the oven.

• College professor Brian is all thumbs when it comes to crafting, but he has the perfect idea for his Secret Santa project. He takes a trip to the lumber yard, where he finds the bear of his dreams. Can Marcus make all of Brian’s Christmas wishes come true?

• On a trip to the local Renaissance Faire, Taylor finds Jake, the shy coworker he’s admired from afar. Selling chainmail creations and talking about his craft makes Jake light up, and over jump rings and turkey legs, a link is formed.

• Single dad George is working hard to keep the kids in the Kwanzaa spirit, so when they suggest a family craft project, he’s all in. But when papier-mâché turns into a desperate need for a haircut, can stylist Juan put the magic back into the holiday season?

• On advice from his therapist, stressed-out systems controller Claude takes a ceramics painting class to help relax and enjoy the season, but it’s the cutie with the paint on his nose who sits at the table next to him who gets him into the Hanukkah spirit.

• After a fire destroys all the stage settings for the community theater, stage manager Antwon has two weeks to build a new set for the town’s annual Nativity play. He wasn’t raised Christian and has only seen the plastic sets in people’s yards, but his neighbor is a professor of religion at the university… and seriously cute.

HERE’S HOW IT WILL WORK

• Stories will be set during and involve any end-of-the-calendar-year holidays.

• Romantic themes are required and stories must feature happy endings.

• Due to potential copyright violations, no recipes will be allowed to accompany the stories.

• Because of the packaged nature of the set, all stories need to stand alone. No sequels to or spin-offs of previously published works will be accepted.

NEW EARLIER Submission Deadline: May 1, 2019.

• Contract offers will be made by June 1, 2019.

• Publication Date: December 2019

• Advent Calendar story length: 5,000 – 18,000 words

• Manuscripts shorter or longer will be considered but will have to be extraordinary.
