M. Raiya lives with her family on a dirt road in northern Vermont, surrounded by woods and streams and old stone walls. These elements soak into her writing in strange ways. She writes gay romance. M. Raiya has nearly always lived in Vermont, near the shores of Lake Champlain. She grew up in a house her father built next to a farm that has been in her family for six generations. He’s a naturalist and her mother is a poet, so nature and writing are integral parts of her soul. In college, she majored in writing and then got her master’s in English. Now she’s a writing tutor in the special education department of the high school she graduated from. She is married and has two daughters. She started writing m/m romance several years ago when one of her male characters fell in love with someone who happened to be male, too. She had no idea he was going to do that, but he was very insistent, and when she took a hard look at his past, she realized why he had not been interested in any of the ladies she'd been putting in his path. He came out first, and dragged her into the genre in his wake. M. Raiya is a nature photographer, a canoeist, a bike rider, and a birdwatcher. She also needs to swim every day or else she will turn into a mermaid. Really.
