Sparks Fly by Clare London

Nic Gerrard is this year's brightest young entrepreneur, charming and charismatic, with time for everyone.  Aidan West is his cleverest programmer, fiercely committed to his work and with little time for friendship or socializing.  Together they created the successful dating agency, Sparks, with a new and refreshing approach to matching people.

A year later, their lives are very different – Nic has all the trappings of success and as much company as he wants; Aidan is solitary and disapproving of such a lifestyle.  When Nic decides to update the agency's unique matching program, he and Aidan must work together again.  Getting along gets harder as they deal with a malicious hacker and face a crisis at the agency.  It will take both of them to make the agency work, and somehow they have to find a way to put their differences aside. Nic and Aidan have secrets to keep, and whether they'll admit it or not, they each need something – or someone – to help Sparks fly.  Read an excerpt.

Ms. London has created an incredible story with two very compelling characters that come to life for the reader. Nic is a very complex man who appears very superficial, but in reality he keeps his true actions out of the public notice. Aidan, at first, falls for Nics public persona, but eventually gets his eyes opened to the truly beautiful person that Nic truly is. Nic has always gotten what he wanted when he wanted it, but he learns that the important things in life are worth the wait. Thanks go to Ms. London for a great read.

Night Owl Romance

Ms. London will draw you in and have you guessing all the way to the end how things are going to work out. Will Nic and Aidan work it all out and live happily ever after? Were they meant to? Who is trying too hard to destroy Sparks? Or do they just want something to hold over Nic’s head?

These are all questions you’ll ask yourself as you read Sparks Fly. You’ll walk with Nic and Aidan and a host of other characters. Some you’ll like and some you’ll want to hurt. You will never be bored though. This tale takes you through the lives of two men and brings you face to face with issues we all have been through at one time or another in our lives. The lesson of learning where to keep hold of absolute control and where to learn to let go of a little. The lesson of learning to trust ourselves and our instincts. And the lesson that love is what matters most at the end of the day.

SPARKS FLY by Clare London is a diverting and sensual read. The most interesting aspect of this story for me is the development of the heroes and the way they relate to each throughout the story. Neither of these men is really happy with the way they are living their lives. I sympathized with both of them but especially Aidan. He may seem rude and unapproachable but inside he is a good person who has been hurt terribly. I especially loved the way these two characters bring out the worst and the best in each other and that each has what the other is missing.

I liked Nic right away, even if his emotionally disconnected bed-hopping lifestyle seemed a little extreme, but his secret work with troubled teens and young kids made him endearing. Aidan, on the other hand, was initially a character I didn’t care for much, and his actions and words toward Nic was frustrating until I began to get a handle of why he acted the way he did. The actions and words of Aidan’s parents had damaged his self-esteem, but his hot and cold response to Nic got a little old by the end of the book. Still the sexual tension between these two guys was blistering hot, as was the emotional attraction that kept them both coming back for more. The destructive hacker mystery was well integrated, keeping Nic and Aidan working together…and while I had a couple of guesses at the culprit’s identity, I didn’t get it right in the end. Not even close. Sparks Fly between Nic and Aidan every time they get within a few feet of each other, and as a title, it’s perfect.

The mystery of the hacker’s identity kept me on edge, as did the fact that Nic and Aidan kept dancing around their feelings. Both men proved that you should not judge a book by its cover. Aidan’s passion was as unexpected as Nic’s tenderness. I found myself smiling as they fought and holding my breath when they finally kissed. This is a classic tale of the head not wanting what the heart wants, but the heart wins in the end. I applaud Ms. London for this well-written and wonderful story.

Boys Next Door - Reviewed by Cynthia   [5 Stars]

I love Clare London's characters. They're always so vivid and leap off of the page. You find yourself cheering them on, just waiting for the happy ending that you know is lurking out there for them. This story is no exception.

First, we have Nic, a bright, young, entrepreneur who has, along with his lead programmer, Aidan, created a dating agency which is just about to go public. The site is quite successful, but Nic has an idea that is really going to revolutionize the online match-making world. He wants to remove the gender matching questions to match people up with their true soul-mates. After all, if you're closing yourself off to half the population, you may be missing something really special. Aidan is just the man to get this programming right. He and Nic worked well together when they were getting the site off the ground.

This all sounds good, but add in the fact that Nic is starting to crack under the pressure of living in the spotlight, the danger of a hacker trying to take down their system and then throw in Nic's attraction to Aidan. Now, Aidan is not the best when it comes to interpersonal relations. He's much better with computers than he is with people. Especially with people like Nic, who he's attracted to, even though he's fighting the attraction with all that he's got. Sparks are definitely going to fly when these two clash and get together. Friction creates sparks and there's plenty of friction between these two.

I really enjoyed this story, mainly because the characters were not perfect. Give me flawed characters any day. Nic is far too stubborn and Aidan's anti-social tendencies made them that much more real to me. London has created a true jewel with this release. Anyone who enjoys male/male erotic novels is going to find a lot to like with this one!

I hated the character of Aidan. At first that is. I was almost to the point of putting the book down as I was so frustrated by Aidan's personality. There was a gorgeous young man who wanted Aidan and he didn't want anything to do with him. The more I got into the book, the more I understood Aidan's feelings. His parents disowned him when they found he was messing around with other men. Aidan didn't think he would be any good has a lover especially with someone as successful as Nic.

Nic on the other hand was the epitome of a playboy, bedding down anything that came onto him whether it be male or female. I fell in love with Nic the moment I started reading the book. Throughout the book it showed how at such a young age (23) Nic made a name for himself. He started a company with the help of his former partner and ran it quite well as a matter of fact. He also ran a program to help teens and young kids like himself get through life, and he kept it all a secret from everyone. He knew how they felt being that he was all alone in the world after his mother passed away and wanted young children to have some of the advantages that he did not have.

I liked the fact that there was also a bit of mystery to the book as well with someone hacking into the computer to try and sabotage the business.

I would recommend this book to especially young adults as it shows what young people can give back to the world and that if you have hopes and dreams they can come true with a lot of hard work and determination.

Once in a time the cover of the book perfectly depicts the main characters ... The undercurrent hacker mystery is also a good one: I hadn't found the culprit, I had two suspects, and no one was the right!
