Love Ahead by Madeleine Urban & Abigail Roux

A pair of working man novellas from the authors that wrote Caught Running.

Under Contract
Site foreman Ted Lucas moved to Birmingham, leaving a full life behind, only to discover something - someone - to look forward to. Assistant Nick Cooper catches his eye, and even more incredibly, Lucas's heart, all without a word. When Lucas finds out Cooper's asked to be transferred, he bites the bullet and admits his feelings. Intrigued, Cooper offers Lucas one night to figure out if that love could possibly be real.

Over the Road
Truck driver Elliot Cochran meets 'McLean' while talking on the CB and strikes up an unusual friendship. One evening, McLean tells Elliot he needs to go find some companionship, and so Elliot meets Jimmy Vaughan - and has one of the best nights in his life. Before long Elliot faces a decision about sharing his life: Does he choose McLean, the best friend he's never met, or Jimmy, the man who thrills him beyond belief?

Joyfully Reviewed - Reviewed by Ley

“Under Contract” is a very good story!  I felt a great connection between Lucas and Cooper and I liked them both, macho attitudes and all.  Both men were very good at hiding their true desire, which happened to be each other.  Once they opened up to each other it became very obvious they belonged with one another.  “Under Contract” is a fun and entertaining story.

“Over the Road” - I absolutely adored this story!  It’s a very well written and unique story idea. Madeleine Urban & Abigail Roux did a fantastic job with this.  “Over the Road” is sweet, loving, emotional and above all believable.  “Over the Road” has been added to my list of favorite stories.

Love Ahead is a fantastic anthology.  There are only two stories but each story is full length and very enjoyable.  I have already read each story more than once and I Joyfully Recommend Love Ahead.

Under Contract - Lucas and Cooper's relationship is easy and enjoyable; two real man who have no problem to make physically clear that they like each other; with the bodies is simple, but when the hearts are involved, it's another matter. Sex is not a problem, and also a buddy f..k relationship, but love... it takes a lot more courage.

Over the Road - This is a domino play and a play of hidden cards. A mistaken comedy. I don't want to give up the story, but it's pretty clear since the first pages what the secret is, and so, after discovered it, you have only to enjoy the show, and in particular, the almost epistolary relationship between Millis and MacLean, but here, instead of letters, we have two mobile phones and the long American highways.

Again a right dose of sex, and two real men who enjoy it and a lot. In both stories, the friendship is almost important like the sex relationship; both couple are first friends and than lovers, but also when they are lovers, they still remain friends, and this make all easier and smooth. And since friendship is so important, there is also a light and funny tone in both stories that makes them very enjoyable.

Fallen Angel Reviews - 5 Angels

In Love Ahead, Madeleine Urban and Abigail Roux give us two well written and entirely enjoyable stories about men finding love with each other in the unlikeliest of job fields. The worlds of construction and long-haul trucking are traditionally homophobic, but these two stories break the macho stereotypes and give us love stories that are sweet, emotional, and even humorous. Ms. Urban and Ms. Roux have developed strong and well-rounded characters and have placed them in situations that test their mettle and challenge their comfort zones.

Although both of these stories are excellent, I found Over the Road to be the slightly more entertaining of the two. Much of this story is taken up by telephone conversations between Elliott and Jimmy, and the repartee between them is affectionate and frequently hilarious. Even though the reader knows exactly what is going on at all times, an element of suspense is maintained throughout the story. It is enough to keep a reader hooked and rooting for Elliott and Jimmy to find and recognize each other. Readers looking for stories of love and humor will find Love Ahead to be both engaging and fun.
